A woman was left distraught after waking up after a quiet night drinking with her partner to find he had passed away in their living room.
Jonathon Mark was found dead slumped over a table in his flat in The Crescent, Bridlington on the morning of June 5, 2021.
As well as being prescribed various medications for depression, anxiety, insomnia, and previous drug addictions including heroin and cocaine, the dad was also taking pain relief for a severe leg ulcer.
He had been looking forward to having his son stay with him later in the month and had a holiday planned, Hull Live reports.
Tragically, it was concluded at the inquest that his death was drug-related.
According to a summary of the partner's statement read out in court, Jonathon Green was living with his partner and they had been in a relationship for around two years. On the evening of June 4, they had a night in, sharing two bottles of Lambrini.
She fell asleep at 10.30pm on the sofa, woke up the next morning, and noticed Jonathon unresponsive and "slumped over the table in the living room".
She panicked, telephoned her mum, and a paramedic later attended the scene and declared that life was extinct.
As part of her statement, the woman described how, as well as the prescribed medication he was taking, Jonathon had sourced drugs from Bradford to provide pain relief to a leg ulcer.
"He was in a lot of pain so therefore he sourced his own drugs," his partner said.
Johnathon was warned by both his partner and a cousin to not take the non-prescribed drugs. "He often tried to hide the drugs from me as he was taking so many," she said.
GP records indicated that he suffered from depression and drug abuse, and was taking regular medication for this and anxiety and insomnia,
