Woman, 33, dies following crash on M66 motorway near Bury

A woman has sadly died after a car came off the M66 motorway and hit a tree.

The 33-year-old hasn't been named by police.

Greater Manchester Police said her family were 'understandably distressed and devastated' after the tragedy on the M66 near Bury on Saturday.

A 31-year-old man who was also in the car involved was seriously injured.

He remained in hospital on Sunday, the force said.
