In a new video interview, executive producer and show runner Gary Janetti revealed that Madonna actually refused to wear the outfit that was picked out for her to wear for the role.
He explained that she was supposed to be “the kind of woman who wears her sneakers on the subway and carries her shoes in her bag and goes to a happy hour after work and thinks she’s kind of a big deal in her tiny office. So she was supposed to wear, you know, Anne Klein II suits with sneakers and be the kind of woman you’d see on the subway. And Madonna as that is very funny…”
However, it didn’t turn out that way with Gary adding that she “didn’t want to wear any of those clothes” and went with her own looks.
“She looked fabulous,” he said, “but as a result, it was about 50 percent less funny than it should have been.”
Gary also shared that since she wore her own clothes, the story just didn’t make sense anymore.
“I mean, she looked like Madonna. She looked like a rich, fabulous celebrity, which wasn’t what the character was,” he said. “But she was game when she was on the show, and she was also funny.”
If you missed it, Madonna was one of the guests at Britney Spears‘ wedding!
