Wife of Derek Chauvin, the Officer Charged with George Floyd's Murder, Has Filed for Divorce

Thomas Lane, one of four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd, was released from jail on Wednesday after posting $750,000 cash bail.  E! News confirms Lane was freed shortly after 4:00 p.m. from the Hennepin County jail. He spent exactly one week behind bars.  His attorney, Earl Gray, tells E! News in a statement, "Thomas has bailed out.

UPDATE 2, 6/8/20, 2:41pm ET: Derek Chauvin was ordered to be held on a $1.25 million bail in his first court appearance since being arrested, on June 8. Chauvin was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the May 25 death of George Floyd. He is due back in court on June 29, and faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted.

The three other Minneapolis police officers who were fired for their involvement in George Floyd's death have been charged with aiding and abetting murder, according to court records obtained by CBS Minnesota. Additionally, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has also increased former officer Derek Chauvin's murder charge to second-degree murder.

UPDATE, 6/3/20, 3:31pm ET: Derek Chauvin has now been hit with an additional charge of second degree murder in the death of George Floyd, according to the State of Minnesota. The felony charge includes a sentence of up to 40 years in prison, according to the amended complaint obtained by HollywoodLife. The complaint argues that Chauvin acted “without intent to effect the death of any person, while committing or attempting to commit a felony offense” when Floyd died.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison has announced charges for the three remaining officers involved in the killing of George Floyd. Those three officers are Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Keung.

Derek Chauvin has a new mugshot and prison cell after he was charged with the murder of George Floyd on May 29. The disgraced former Minneapolis police officer was moved to Minnesota’s only level five maximum-security prison on June 1 — Oak Park Heights Prison, near the city of Stillwater. Chauvin was previously being held at the Hennepin County Jail following his arrest. He was officially charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of Floyd on May 29.

Like so many across the country, Nicki Minaj is angry. The “Monster” rapper, 37, took to her Instagram account on June 1 with a message of disappointment and exasperation, calling out the lack of accountability by the justice system to charge the other officers — Thomas Lane, J.A. Kueng, and Tou Thoa — who watched on as Derek Chauvin pushed his knee into George Floyd‘s neck, leading to his death by asphyxiation.
