The Grand National is Britain's largest horse racing and one of the most prestigious in Europe. The event will soon be underway as thousands of racegoers attend Aintree for the first time since lockdown restrictions have been lifted.
The race will be broadcasted live on ITV1 at 5.15pm on Saturday, April 9 while the Aintree gates at the Grand National will open around 10.30am - the race is generally watched by over 500 million people each year.
Aintree has become one of the most famous horse racing tracks in the world ever since it first formed back in 1839.

Last year's winner Minella Times will be making another run this year to defend his Randox Grand National crown. The nine-year-old played a hand in making Rachael Blackmore become the first female jockey to win the world's greatest steeplechase when he landed a six-and-a-half length victory.
The favourite had won in each other races leading up to the pinnacle at Aintree. At the time, Rachael said: "He was just incredible, he jumped beautifully. When we jumped the last and I asked him for a bit he was there. It was just incredible."
Other famous winning horses include Red Rum and Party Politics, while Tiger Roll set his name in stone after winning both in 2018 and 2019. A field of 40 runners makes the starting line to tackle 30 fences over four-and-a-half miles this year.
