Bowen Yang introduced a new recurring political impersonation during the January 21 episode of Saturday Night Live by getting in drag to impersonate a George Santos.
Since then he’s portrayed the character several additional times, most recently on the March 11 episode in the Oscars-inspired cold open. In it, he portrayed George pretending to be Tom Cruise.
You might be wondering who George is and why Bowen portrays him as something of a serial liar.

George has seemingly been caught in multiple lies since being elected, including about his family, work and educational history. He was even allegedly caught lying about his religious background and then claimed that he didn’t say he was Jewish but was “Jew-ish,” according to Reuters.
The openly gay politician has recently been called a hypocrite for his political beliefs and the controversial stance the Republican party has regarding the LGBTQ+ community after allegations arose that he performed as a drag queen years ago in Brazil.
After strongly denying that he had performed as a drag queen, TMZ reported that George did admit to dressing as a woman when he was “young” while still saying he wasn’t a drag queen.
“No, I was not a drag queen in Brazil,” he told photographers, seemingly admitting that he was in the photos circulating online. “I was young, and I had fun at a festival.”

Barring an agreement with producer NBCUniversal, the 12 to 20 editing crew members have announced that they intend to halt work and disrupt the show should bargaining sessions in their bid for pay inequities and health benefits continue to stall. The deadline comes after the group, which successfully organized with the Motion Picture Editors Guild, and is a part of IATSE Local 700, voiced aims to negotiate a contract in October. As previously reported, bargaining sessions have since taken place, but sticking points remain, notably around the issue of health benefits.
