The Earthshot Prize was awarded the BAFTA Television Award for Live Event at the 2022 ceremony, beating The Brit Awards 2021 and The Royal Legion Festival of Remembrance. The prize was launched back in 2020 by the Duke of Cambridge and Sir David Attenborough, in order to reward and celebrate initiatives which aim to help the environment.
The 2021 Earthshot Prize ceremony was held in October 2021 at Alexandra Palace, and was hosted by Clara Amfo, 37, and Dermot O'Leary, 48, and broadcast on both Discovery+ and BBC One. It is organised by The Royal Foundation and Prince William, 37, who first announced details of the prize in December 2019.
