Queen Elizabeth II dies - and sport is no different. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96 with the United Kingdom now entering a period of mourning with sport likely to be postponed in the UK.

Although the DCMS did confirm that if sporting events were scheduled to take place on the day of the Queen's funeral - they would all be cancelled.In the interim period leading up to the funeral, it is understood football bosses would have to gauge the 'mood of a nation' when it came to deciding whether or not to postpone games as a mark of respect.
