WarnerMedia, Major League Baseball Reach 7-Year Rights Extension At Reported $3.75B; Will HBO Max Benefit?

HBO Max, the streaming-video hub of WarnerMedia, has acquired anticipated Studiocanal title “Possessions,” a psychological thriller series created by Shachar Magen (“Sirens”) and directed by BAFTA-nominated Thomas Vincent (“Bodyguard”).As an international Max Original, the series will be made available on the U.S. streaming platform in December.Commissioned for Canal Plus’s Creation Original and Israel’s Yes TV, the series was shot in Israel in French, Hebrew and English.

HBO Max didn’t really blow minds with its original programming at launch. Sure, the addition of classic movies, the Studio Ghibli catalog and classic cartoons is all well and good, but we didn’t see an extensive slate of original shows except for “Raised by Wolves,” but that may change soon.

“The West Wing” is back, although the opening credits in the video above are looking a little different now that the White House is a coronavirus hot spot.
