Across The River And Into The Trees, the long-awaited Ernest Hemingway adaptation starring Liev Schreiber (Spotlight), Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing), Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Danny Huston (The Aviator), has set North American release plans with Bleecker Street. Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Matthew McConaughey is set to star in “The Rivals of Amziah King,” a crime thriller that takes place in rural Oklahoma. Black Bear International will launch international sales in Cannes, with WME Independent representing the U.S rights.  Andrew Patterson (“The Vast of Night”) is writing and directing “The Rivals of Amziah King.” Plot details are being kept under wraps, but a press release describes the film as a “deeply atmospheric, character-focused crime thriller set against the unique backdrop of remote Oklahoma.” McConaughey will star in the titular role of Amziah King.

McKinley Franklin editor Joel McHale showed his support for the Writers Guild of America in a very Joel McHale way: With a series of bad jokes. At City Year Los Angeles’s 12th annual Spring Break: Destination Education event this Saturday, McHale opened up the night series of events by addressing the looming “elephant” in the room at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City. Following an introduction from Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, McHale addressed the ongoing writer’s strike in his opening speech. A large collection of Hollywood stars including Charlize Theron, Melissa McCarthy, and Sarah Silverman have been slated to appear in an upcoming telethon to support LGBTQ groups facing what they see as society’s "demonization of drag culture." The live telethon, titled "Drag Isn’t Dangerous," is a joint Hollywood and LGBTQ event featuring celebrity appearances and performances from drag queens, with the goal of raising money for several major LGBTQ groups. Among the groups looking to benefit are Black Queer Town Hall, GLAAD, Trixie Cosmetics, OUTtv and SERV Vodka.

Emily Longeretta While Matt Casey fans will be happy, Kelly Severide supporters, not so much. During the May 24 Season 11 finale of “Chicago Fire,” Jesse Spencer will return to make a guest appearance. Taylor Kinney, who last appeared during the Feb. 22 episode and stepped away to deal with a personal matter, will not return. Spencer exited Dick Wolf’s firefighter procedural in 2021 after 200 episodes. He has made multiple appearances since his departure, including during Severide’s wedding on the Season 10 finale. He came back again earlier this season, starring in the April 5 episode, “Danger Is All Around.” At the time, his storyline was left open, hinting that Casey could return to Chicago. The character originally moved to Oregon to take care of a late friend’s children and made a three-year commitment to a new job.

A night to remember! Despite the Met Gala’s no phone policy, several celebs were sneak enough to give fans a glimpse inside the biggest fashion event of the year.

Paige DeSorbo is aware the  audience has mixed feelings about season 7. «I have been doing this for five years, and I have no idea when we're filming how it’s gonna be perceived when it airs,» she admits to ET. «So, it does make me a little sad when viewers are like, 'Oh this season's awful!' I'm like, oh god...»Season 7 features the largest cast in  history, with some housemates skipping weekends (and therefore an episode or two), and some appearing to age out of the show's set-up: a place to party and let off steam from hustling in the city. «I still had a great time, and I still think there so many funny moments this season and so many relationships that have taken turns, and ups and downs, and that’s really what the show was about it’s about a group of friends — and in real life, groups of friends have that,» Paige notes. Last summer proved to be one filled with growing pains for the long-time stars of the series; OG cast members Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke's relationship raced toward a soon-to-air engagement, creating a new dynamic for the larger cast to navigate.
