Vile footage has shown the moment a young schoolboy was attacked by a mob of 'rampaging' youths.
In the shocking video, shared with the Daily Record by a friend of the victim's family, the teenager is seen curled up on the ground as a group of others deliver a barrage of kicks to his body.
As he tries to cover himself with his arms one of the youths, wearing a grey jacket, brings his foot down on the teen's head at least nine times.
Meanwhile, some of the other thugs circle him before raining down a series of further punches and kicks.
The horrific attack took place in a park on Telford Road in the Murray area of East Kilbride, North Lanarkshire on Monday May 2, at around 8pm.
Police say they are probing the footage.
A friend of the victim's family, who asked not to be named, told the Record the teen victim had been attacked unprovoked.
She said: "He is a lovely quiet wee boy and was simply walking home minding his own business when he was set upon.
"You see the video lasted for seven seconds but this lasted for a lot longer than that.
"Folk reckon he took 87 blows to the head from another video that is circulating.
"This group has been rampaging around for weeks now and getting away with it.
"They think they are untouchable."
She added of the young victim: "He keeps his head down - this has affected his confidence and he really doesn't deserve it.
"If he hadn't covered his head like that who knows what could have happened?
"Is that what is it is going to take here? For them to kill someone before something is done?"
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are aware of an assault on a teenage boy at Telford Road in East Kilbride which happened during the evening of Monday, 2 May.
“Enquiries into the incident remain ongoing."
