Timothée Chalamet Reveals Leonardo DiCaprio Gave Him Career Advice: ‘No Hard Drugs and No Superhero Movies’

Ethan Shanfeld Timothée Chalamet has worn the crown of Hollywood “it boy” ever since his turn in Luca Guadagnino’s “Call Me by Your Name.” Since then, he’s starred in indie favorites like “Lady Bird” and “Beautiful Boy,” as well as headlined fantasy blockbuster “Dune.” Up next: Guadagnino’s film festival darling “Bones and All,” a cannibal love story that earned an 8.5-minute standing ovation in Venice. Following in the footsteps of Hollywood hotshots before him, Chalamet revealed to British Vogue the career advice that Leonardo DiCaprio gave him: “No hard drugs and no superhero movies.” DiCaprio and Chalamet shared the screen in Adam McKay’s 2021 satirical comedy “Don’t Look Up,” which premiered in limited theaters and on Netflix last December, and was nominated for a best picture Oscar.

Taylor Russell Brings Cannibal Magic to ‘Bones and All’ — Will the Academy Bite?

Clayton Davis You’d think the reunion of Academy Award nominee Timothee Chalamet and his “Call Me by Your Name” director Luca Guadgnino in “Bones and All” would be all anyone could talk about following the film’s premiere last weekend at Telluride and Venice.   Instead, the name on everyone’s lips is going to be Taylor Russell. The up-and-comer, who first gained prominence with her role in “Waves” (2019), takes center stage and devours every morsel of her time on screen. She brings grace and restraint, two qualities that don’t exactly spring to mind when you’re talking about a coming-of-age story about teen cannibals drawn together by mutual blood lust. I only wish I had more faith Oscar voters would give the movie its proper shake, as genre movies always face an uphill climb, no matter how well reviewed or beloved they are by critics and audiences.

Telluride Wraps And Now Let The Oscar Buzz Begin As Venice Continues And Toronto Looms

As the 49th Annual Telluride Film Festival comes to a close on this Labor Day holiday, it once again could be a fest that ignites the Oscar chances of a number of films that have either had their World Premieres or North American Premieres this weekend. As part of the so-called Fall Festival Trifecta of Venice/Telluride/Toronto (the latter beginning this Thursday), this is where the six month+ awards season officially starts, even if the even longer Emmy season doesn’t conclude until a week from today.

My 14-Year-Old Daughter Snapped a Venice Selfie With Timothée Chalamet: ‘I Went Crazy — My Heart Was Pounding’

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent On July 26, the day the Venice lineup was announced, my 14-year-old daughter Emma started hounding me that I had to take her on the red carpet to see Timothée Chalamet. Eventually, I relented, even though I thought the movie, “Bones and All” — about two cannibals who fall in love — would be too gory for her. So we struck a compromise: We’d try to meet Chalamet (or “Timmy,” as he’s called) without going inside to see the film. So there we were — Emma; her friend Nina, 13; and me — on a balmy late afternoon in a small reserved spot for journalists behind the red carpet, opposite the fans, waiting for our A-list sighting. And for a while it was pretty boring. The girls spotted “Outer Banks” star Chase Stokes; YouTuber Emma Chamberlain; Simone Ashley, whom they known from “Bridgerton,” and Italy’s Luca Argentero who stars in the local medical procedural “Doc.” For me the most exciting thing was seeing Venice chief Alberto Barbera’s gorgeous newborn baby daughter Thea, brought out on the red carpet by a nanny to get her first taste of stratospheric stardust, just like Emma.

The 26-year-old posed for photos alongside his co-star Russell, who opted for a green gown with a large bow on the front, which she paired with long, white gloves. Earlier this year the actor attended the 94th Academy Awards wearing no shirt underneath an embroidered lace jacket and high-waisted pants from Louis Vuitton.

Timothée Chalamet’s Sexy Bisexual Cannibal Stuns Venice: ‘Bones and All’ Gets 8.5-Minute Standing Ovation

Timothee Chalamet had all of Venice seeing red on Friday night at the world premiere of “Bones & All.” The actor donned a sparkling red pantsuit (with no back above the waist) in the shade of blood, a cheeky wink to the drama’s central protagonists — two cannibals in love. The drama, which reteams Chalamet with his “Call Me By Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino, lives up to its title with gory attacks and scenes that involve limb chewing and eating. But despite the uncomfortable subject matter, the audience at the Venice premiere for the movie devoured “Bones & All.” The film received a 8.5-minute standing ovation, the longest and most enthusiastic of the festival so far. (It handily beat the previous record holder “Tar,” a drama starring Cate Blanchett as a tortured composer.)

‘Bones And All’ Review: Timothée Chalamet Shines In Luca Guadagnino’s Ravishing Cannibal Coming-Of-Ager [Venice]

To love is to want to consume someone whole, to pick their skin and sinews out of the gaps between your teeth, to swallow their pancreas and wash it all down with gulps of throat-fizzing stomach acid. Take the age-old question that dominates the Grindr lexicon: do you want to be someone, be with them, or be inside them? “Bones and All,” Luca Guadagnino’s typically sumptuous, deeply romantic American parable — about a pair of teen cannibals, coming of age against the backdrop of ‘80s Reaganism — literalizes this allure, as any great anthropophagist love story should.
