The Mars Volta played their first live show in over 10 years, treating fans in their home state of Texas to a stacked showcase of new songs, classics and rarities – including the first-ever performance of their 2006 track ‘Vicarious Atonement’.The latter song opened the set – which The Mars Volta performed at the 4,300-capacity Factory in Deep Ellum – setting the scene for Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala to deliver the first performances of ‘Roulette Dares’ and ‘Eriatarka’ (both from their 2003 debut as The Mars Volta, ‘De-Loused In The Comatorium’) since 2010.They followed those up with the first of two songs showcased from their self-titled comeback album, ‘Graveyard Love’, before throwing back to 2005’s ‘Frances The Mute’ with ‘L’Via L’Viaquez’ – also played live for the first time since 2010.Other rarities included ‘Drunkship Of Lanterns’ and ‘Viscera Eyes’ (the former being another ‘Comatorium’ cut while the latter, like ‘Vicarious Atonement’, came from 2006’s ‘Amputechture’) – both of which hadn’t been played since 2009 – as well as the first performance of ‘Comatorium’ standout ‘Televators’ since 2007. High Concept ‘Django’ Series Revisits the World of Cult Sergio Corbucci Western – First Clip (EXCLUSIVE)

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent An English-language reimagining of the world of Sergio Corbucci’s cult 1966 spaghetti western “Django,” which launched the career of Italian icon Franco Nero, is set to launch from the Rome Film Festival in October. The high–concept TV series, titled “Django,” will play in 2023 exclusively on Sky and its streaming service NOW in all countries where Sky operates, including the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Germany and Austria. It will also air on Canal+ in France, Switzerland, Benelux and Africa. The Rome Film Festival runs from Oct. 13-23. The 10-episode “Django” show stars Matthias Schoenaerts (“Rust and Bone,” “Bullhead”) as the iconic gunman who is the title character, alongside Nicholas Pinnock (“For Life”) as John Ellis, described as the “visionary founder” of the town of New Babylon. Lisa Vicari (“Dark”) plays Django’s daughter Sarah and Noomi Rapace (Millennium Trilogy) has the adversarial role of John’s powerful and ruthless enemy Elizabeth Thurman.

EJ Panaligan editor Following the tragic events of the Uvalde school shooting in May, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny has teamed up with other reggaeton singers to provide support for the survivors in the months after. Former Houston Astros MLB player Carlos Correa shared through his Correa Family Foundation that Bad Bunny, along with fellow reggaeton artists Wisin and Yandel, made generous donations to help fund a new home for Mayah Nicole Zamora, a 10-year-old Robb Elementary student and survivor, following the aftermath of the shooting in May. Now playing for the Minnesota Twins, Correa visited his former team’s stadium in late August, meeting with Zamora on the field prior to a matchup between the two teams.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Movie theater operator Cineworld Group, which has 9,139 screens in 10 countries, has received approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas for “first day” relief related to its Chapter 11 proceedings filed on Sept. 7. The group’s companies include Regal in the U.S. The court granted the group immediate access to up to some $785 million of an approximate $1.94 billion debtor-in-possession financing facility that, together with its cash reserves and cash provided by operations, is expected to provide sufficient liquidity for Cineworld to “meet its ongoing obligations, including post-petition obligations to vendors and suppliers, as well as employee wages, salaries and benefits programs,” the company said Friday. The remainder of the DIP facility will become available following the court’s approval on a final basis.
