Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in London, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and she was educated privately at home. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

UK cinemas screening the Queen's funeral for free - but some will close on Monday

Several cinema venues across the UK will be screening the Queen's funeral procession on Monday September 19, while others are to remain shut.

Vue cinemas will be screening the live broadcast free of charge. It will be the only screening for the entire day. A statement on their Facebook read: "On Monday 19 September, our UK venues will be screening the live broadcast of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. "Seats will be free of charge and our retail offering will be limited to complimentary bottled water during the broadcast, with no other snacks or drinks available for purchase.

No other content will be shown on this day." As reported in Birmingham Live, Cineworld, Odeon and Showcase cinemas will all shut on the Queen 's funeral.
