Tyler West had to jet to and from Mauritius in just a day so he could attend his brother’s wedding and make it back in time for Strictly Come Dancing. Radio host Tyler is partnered up with Strictly favourite Dianne Buswell and appeared to take both his dancing and best man duties very seriously. "I think I’ve put my body through the paces and then I thought, Lewis, my brother, I’m the best man for his wedding, so I’m flying to Mauritius for, I think, about nine hours,” he told BBC Breakfast yesterday morning, Friday 7 October.
“So, yeah, I kept the schedule light this year!" As well as training for Strictly and flying halfway across the globe and back for his sibling’s nuptials, Tyler also did the London Marathon last weekend. Speaking about his recovery and the run itself, Tyler explained: “I don’t have the methods or the strategy to it, I just did it. "I just firmed it, absolutely woke up and firmed it.” He went on: “My body has been a bit of a slow one this week, I’ve obviously had to have time to recover and just be smart with how we’re training and stuff.
"But I’ll tell you what – once-in-a-lifetime experience, just a crazy weekend." All the effort Tyler went to proved worth it however, with him and Dianne going on to receive the first 10s of the season on Saturday night, 8 October. The pair had an almost-perfect score from the judges: including 10s from Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse. Strictly viewers also loved their dance, with many agreeing Tyler deserved the high scores.
