Tributes have been paid to former Perth and Kinross Provost Mike O'Malley who died at the weekend.
The former Labour councillor was Provost from 1999 to 2003.
Perth and Kinross Council and local politicians have paid tribute to the "thoughtful and friendly" former Provost.
The council announced his death on social media on Sunday evening calling him "a proud ambassador for the area at home and abroad".
A PKC spokesperson added: "He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this time."
Former Perth and Kinross Labour councillor John Flynn paid tribute to his former colleague and friend of over 50 years.
John and his wife Moira were great friends with Mike and his late wife Kate. John spoke fondly of Mike's "quick wit".
He told the Local Democracy Reporting Service: "Mike and I go back over 50 years. We worked together at British Telecom and were union representatives there.
"It was my wife's father - Cllr David White - who suggested he stood as councillor for North Muirton."
That was in the 1980s and a few years later John ended up on the council alongside Mike when John took over from his father-in-law as Labour councillor for North Letham.
John - who stood on the council for 29 years until 2017 - said: "Mike was a real people person. He loved the craic and was a great socialiser. He was also an excellent golfer."
Mike O'Malley eventually went on to become the council's first Labour Provost in 1999.
Current Provost Dennis Melloy said he was "extremely saddened" to hear the news.
He added: "I knew Mike and his family for many years, long before he was Provost. He was always a big man with a big heart and stood for no nonsense.
