‘Triangle of Sadness’ Breakout Dolly de Leon Signs With Gersh (EXCLUSIVE)

One of the most talked-about movies this fall is going to be Triangle of Sadness, which premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Palme d’Or prize!

Angelique Jackson Actor and comedian Jillian Bell has signed with CAA for representation.Bell is best known for comedic hits such as “Idiotsitter,” the Comedy Central series which she created and starred in for two seasons, and the critically-acclaimed movie “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” directed by Paul Downs Colaizzo. She most recently starred in “The Drop,” which premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, and is set to appear opposite Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in the upcoming “Murder Mystery 2” for Netflix.Other highlights of Bell’s filmography include a standout role in “22 Jump Street” — for which she was nominated for two MTV movie awards as well as a Teen Choice Award.

Brent Lang Executive Editor of Film and MediaUtopia and Showtime have acquired the North American rights to Pulse Films’ “Meet Me in the Bathroom,” a documentary about the explosion of rock ‘n’ roll that helped define the early 2000s in New York City and ushered in a new generation of musical talent. The film, which is directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.

Mere weeks after winning the Palme d’Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival for “The Square,” Swedish auteur Ruben Östlund announced his next project, “Triangle Of Sadness,” and five years later, it won Östlund his second Palme d’Or at Cannes; an exclusive club that puts him in the company of only six other filmmakers in the world. “Triangle Of Sadness” satirizes the elitist world of fashion and completes something of an accidental thematic trilogy, alongside 2014s “Force Majeure” and the aforementioned “The Square” (read our ‘Triangle of Sadness’ review here).

Angelique Jackson CAA has signed writer-director Sadé Clacken Joseph, who most recently directed two episodes of Issa Rae’s “Rap Sh!t,” for representation.The HBO Max comedy series stars Aida Osman, KaMillion, Jonica Booth and RJ Cyler, with Syreeta Singleton as showrunner. Joseph helmed the pilot and second episode, titled “Something for the City” and “Something for the Girls” respectively.

Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are reteaming to star in and produce the upcoming Spanish-language Hulu limited series “La Máquina,” from Searchlight Television. “La Máquina,” which got a straight-to-series order, follows an aging boxer (Bernal) whose crafty manager (Luna) secures him one last shot at a title.

Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna are two of the biggest Mexican actors working today. Now, they’ll team up again for a new Spanish-language limited series for Hulu: “La Maquina,” a tale of boxing and the criminal underworld.
