Tragic teacher was stood with sister and friends when driver 'lost control' and crashed into her

The driver of a car which ploughed into an "inspirational" teacher outside a busy bar in Wigan "lost control" of the vehicle when he went to overtake another car.
Laura Jayne Hazeldine, 44, was tragically killed earlier this month when a silver Land Rover Freelander smashed into pedestrians outside Fifteens bar in Ormskirk Road, Pemberton. Two men were injured in the crash, and Laura was taken to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary where she was tragically pronounced dead.
An inquest into her death opened at Bolton Coroner's Court this afternoon, April 27, where senior coroner for Manchester West Timothy Brennand heard brief circumstances about Laura's death on April 8. The "amazing and inspirational" teacher, who worked at a school in St Neots, Cambridge, was born in Billinge and had returned to her hometown to visit family, heading out with them to Fifteens bar.

Police coroner's officer Neil McCaffrey told the court Laura was stood with her sister and friends outside the bar on the evening of April 8 when the Freelander drove down the road. He added: "The Land Rover attempted to over take a slow moving vehicle when the driver lost control of the vehicle and mounted the pavement."
Mr McCaffrey said the driver was later arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Just after 11pm, Laura, who was living in Leys Road, St Neots, at the time of her death, suffered "catastrophic" injuries and was pronounced dead in hospital. Her body was later identified by mum Gilliam Webster.
Her cause of death has been listed as multiple injuries. Both other men are not believed to have sustained life-threatening
