The legal requirement to wear a face mask in public places is due to end on July 19.
Guidance published by the government has suggested that some people might choose to wear a face covering in crowded places, but this will now be voluntary.
The decision has proved controversial, with local leaders including Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham expressing concerns about the change of law.
