Former The Only Way is Essex star James 'Arg' Argent has said he is "back on track" after suffering a relapse with alcohol and drugs earlier this year. The 34 year old appeared on ITV's Lorraine this morning to discuss his life post-gastric band operation and finally getting clean and sober after struggling with substance abuse in the past.
The show's host Lorraine Kelly said to Arg that he had an 'addictive personality', and he agreed immediately. Lorraine also revealed that Arg had relapsed earlier this year, saying to him: "You've had problems in the past with booze and drugs, you fell off the wagon a wee bit at the start of this year, but you're back on track".
Arg nodded as he said: "I'm back, I'm back". After Lorraine asked him if he felt like he'd "cracked it this time" with regards to maintaining his sobriety, the Essex native said: "I do, I do".
He continued: "I put my recovery first now, and I kind of feel like I've matured a lot in some ways and I, kind of, I've had to learn very very had and tough lessons, but I'm at a place in my life where I don't feel resentful, I don't feel like 'oh why has this happened to me'," "And to be honest with you, there is nothing better than being clean and sober, I love it, "I wake up every day excited for what the day is going to bring, I'm achieving, you know, all the things that I've said I was going to do, and all my dreams, they're finally coming together". James then discussed his dreams of being a wedding singer, saying: "Even though I love doing the television, it's always fun and stuff, I always wanted to be a wedding singer.
