The BBC has halted production on the latest series of Top Gear following an investigation into co-host Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff‘s injury that required him to be airlifted to a hospital last December.
While driving at a very high speed, his open-topped three-wheel Morgan Super 3 car flipped and slid along the track.

Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured while filming an episode at the Dunsfold Aerodrome track in Surrey, southern England. He suffered multiple facial injuries and broken ribs.
“(BBC Studios) have sincerely apologised to Freddie and will continue to support him with his recovery,” the studio said in a statement.
“Under the circumstances, we feel it would be inappropriate to resume making series 34 of Top Gear at this time. We understand this will be disappointing for fans, but it is the right thing to do, and we’ll make a judgment about how best to continue later this year.”
The statement also announced a full review of all health and safety parameters of the show. “This has also impacted the production team, who we continue to support. Finally, there will be a health and safety review of the show, in line with our procedures.”
The show is also presented by Take Me Out host Paddy McGuinness and automotive journalist Chris Harris.
In 2019 Freddie also crashed while travelling at a very high speed in a three-wheeled cycle car, but managed to walk away from the scene largely unscathed.
