New research has revealed the 'quickest' property markets in the UK where homes are sold the fastest - and all of the top five are located in Scotland.
Rightmove, the UK’s biggest property website, found that Livingston in West Lothian was the quickest market in 2022. On average, properties here found a buyer in an average of just 15 days.
The second fastest markets in the UK, both with an average time to find a buyer of 15.4 days, were found to be Bo'ness and Larbert. The former is also located in West Lothian, while the latter is in Stirlingshire.
Rounding out the top five are Falkirk in Stirlingshire and Bellshill in Lanarkshire. In Falkirk, properties this year were sold in 15.6 days on average, while in Bellshill it took an average of 15.8 days.
Outside of Scotland, Picket Piece in Hampshire was found to be the quickest market in the UK, with properties being on the market for an average of 16.3 days. Fishponds in Bristol and Peverell in Devon follow behind, with average times of 17.0 days and 17.7 days respectively.
Rightmove also investigated what the most searched-for areas in the UK were in 2022, finding that London came out on top. Cornwall, Devon, and Bristol followed behind, with Glasgow rounding out the top five.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh placed seventh, ahead of Manchester and behind Sheffield, York, and Cambridge.
Rightmove property expert Tim Bannister commented: "As we head into the festive period, we’re anticipating our traditional boxing day bounce in search activity, where more future home-movers log onto Rightmove after spending Christmas with friends and family, and begin thinking about where they could live next year.
