2023 Boston and London Marathons To Include Non-Binary Option

For the first time, participants will be able to register as Non-Binary when they sign up for the 2023 London Marathon.Races that operate under World Athletics rules, such as the Championship, Good for Age, and elite athlete races will not offer a third option. According to London Marathon Event Director Hugh Brasher, “This is a significant step forward for the TCS London Marathon as we continue our journey to make our event truly inclusive.”Brasher continued, “We know there is still much more to be done, but changes such as this demonstrate our commitment to making the TCS London Marathon an event that is for everyone.” According to the Boston Athletic Association, in an interview with The Independent, “non-binary athletes can submit entry applications if they’ve completed a marathon as a non-binary participant during the current qualifying window.”LGBTQI sports advocacy group, Athlete Ally spokesperson Joanna Hoffman rescinded to the news, saying, “A truly inclusive marathon provides space for every runner to register, compete and be celebrated exactly as they are.”Hoffman continued, “Including a nonbinary category in the Boston and London Marathons, following the New York Marathon’s prior adoption, is a critical step forward.

‘On the Come Up’ Review: Sanaa Lathan Shines in Her Directorial Debut

Andrew Barker Senior Features Writer There has been no shortage of hip-hop star-is-born narratives hitting screens in recent years, but much like hip-hop itself for most of its history, there hasn’t always been a whole lot of space for women. Sanaa Lathan’s “On the Come Up,” which tracks a teenage girl’s complicated rise through the battle rap circuit to the even more complicated heights of viral stardom, provides a welcome exception to this rule, but fortunately it has a lot more going for it than just that. As frank and tough-minded and as it is warm and sweet, “On the Come Up” is a hugely promising debut from the actor-turned-director. Sixteen-year-old Bri (Jamila C. Gray) is already a talented rapper when we first meet her in her fictitious neighborhood of Garden Heights, and she’s already been through a whole lifetime’s worth of upheaval. Her father was a legendary local MC named Lawless, who was murdered just as his career was beginning to take off. She spent part of her childhood away from her mother (Lathan) while she battled drug addiction, and though she’s now clean, their mother-daughter bond has yet to fully mend. And what’s more, as part of the small contingent of Black students at her school, she’s forced to deal with unsympathetic administrators and suspicious campus cops, one of whom body-slams her to the ground after he spots her selling Skittles to a classmate.

'Euphoria' star responds to 'liking' anti-non-binary post

A post shared by Hunter (@hunterschafer)"i hold absolutely no hatred towards non-binary folks," Hunter wrote, according to Page Six screenshots. "i agreed with another t-girl's post in which she pointed out an in-balance in the visibility and space-taken up between non-binary folks and binary trans women (particularly those of color and/or those who have resulted to sex work as a means of survival) that i think deserves attention/ re-evaluation (as far as resources and platforms go) within the LGBTQ+ community."Hunter, who is dating "Euphoria" costar Dominic Fike, assured her 7 million Instagram followers that she is not a "trans medicalist," which means she does not agree with the idea that "being transgender or transsexual is contingent upon experiencing gender dysphoria or requiring medical treatment to transition," according to Wikipedia. The questioning of Hunter's views stem from an August post that read, "For the last time I am begging non binary people to take a seat and let binary trans people and more specifically black trans women be the voices of the community because they are the ones at risk."Chris Pine's team is speaking truth to the spitting theory that has dominated social media.Over the past few days, a rumor floating around Twitter claimed that Harry Styles spat on Chris at the premiere of "Don't Worry Darling" at the Venice Film Festival Monday, Sept.

Campaign To Stop Deadnaming Trans, Non-Binary Students At Australian Universities Launched

The National Union of Students’ Queer/LGBTQIA+ department has launched a national campaign to stop the deadnaming of trans, non-binary and gender diverse students. The campaign, My Records, My Rights: Stop Deadnaming at Universities!, aims to prevent the use of deadnames of students across tertiary education.A survey conducted in April 2022 by the NUS Queer/LGBTQIA+ department found that every single respondent had experienced some form of deadnaming at universities.  Around 83% of students said there was a persistent deadnaming issue at their university, with 20% saying they were dead named by staff. “What students are trying to do is make sure that universities are aware of their chosen name, but the systems in place just don’t allow it,” Jordy Duffy, the National Queer/LGBTQIA+ Officer for the NUS told Star Observer. “Universities have said ‘Oh, it’s an IT issue,’ and we’re trying to basically say no, it’s about validating a person for who they are.”Jordy mentions that on top of the disappointing statistics from the survey, they’ve listened to a lot of shocking individual stories. The NUS said it has been in contact with a variety of departments and student unions throughout the country, which has only made it more apparent how widespread the issue is.

’13 Reasons Why’ star Tommy Dorfman says she wanted to transition “a lot sooner”

13 Reasons Why star Tommy Dorfman has said she would have “transitioned a lot sooner” if she hadn’t landed a role on the Netflix teen drama. The actress starred as Ryan Shaver in the hit series, which revolved around the suicide of high school student Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford).During a recent appearance on the Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson podcast, Dorfman explained how her transition was delayed by her Hollywood career.“In those early years of working, I was just trying to understand [myself],” she said, adding that 13 Reasons Why was her first real job.“I think if I hadn’t booked that job I would have transitioned a lot sooner. I think because of my work being so tied to my body and face and identify, or whatever [a character] identified as, it delayed some of my growth and some of my maturation in my twenties.”She added: “I made decisions that were just not aligned with how I really was or what I wanted – but out of fear.”Dorfman announced her transition back in July 21.
