Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music CriticDoes the phrase “that’s all right” apply to the new “Elvis” movie… as in, “that’s all correct”? No one is probably expecting that — any practiced watcher of biopics knows virtually any example of the form will take deep liberties with the facts for dramatic purposes. And maybe it’s a given that a director who puts hip-hop and hard rock on the soundtracks for period films, as Baz Luhrmann does, might favor effect over absolute verisimilitude.Still, “Elvis” is right on enough counts — literally or spiritually — that it’s worth trying to separate fact from fiction in the movie’s narrative of Elvis Presley (played by Austin Butler) and his nearly career-long manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks).
While for many Father's Day means pub lunches and long walks, for those who have lost their dad it holds special meaning.Three months on from the death of The Wanted singer Tom Parker, his wife Kelsey is turning the day into a celebration of Tom's love for their young children – Aurelia, two, and 20-month-old Bodhi. The family will admire the card Aurelia made her daddy at nursery, and talk about Tom – as they do every day. In a sit down chat, Kelsey tells OK!: "Aurelia's nursery school has asked me about making cards and they said, 'We know she will be able to cope with making a card' and she talks about her dad to them, so I'm more than happy for her to make a card for her dad.' "In years to come I think it will get harder for the children. This year where they're young and they don't really understand it, in years to come we will make it a celebration.
This is so, so sad.
