While attending the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise has revealed he has "a lot in common" with Prince William. The 39-year-old Duke of Cambridge and his wife Kate Middleton, 40, appeared at the premiere of the movie sequel in London last night.
Prior to the screening of the highly-anticipated film, the headline star gushed about the things he had in common with William, such as their love for "flying".Talking on the red carpet, Tom said: "We have a lot in common. We both love England and we’re both aviators.
We both love flying.” He also notes how "incredibly special" it felt to have the premiere for his film in Leicester square "after what we have all come through". At one point during the red carpet parade, Tom could be seen helping the Duchess of Cambridge up a pair of steps by offering her his hand.The star came back to the Top Gun franchise to once again appear as Navy lieutenant Maverick after the original film launched more than 30 years ago.
Initially, the sequel was due to come out in July 2019, however, it had to be pushed back due to complications from the coronavirus pandemic. "I love what I do, I've always enjoyed it and I'm enjoying it even more now," Tom added.
"Particularly after the last couple of years, just to have an event like this is extraordinary." While he was sharing his many experiences being on set of Top Gun: Maverick, Tom remarked how he banned alcoholic drinks and drinking.
