It’s been 36 years since Top Gun and we had to hold this for two years because of the pandemic. ’‘Thank you Paramount people, this was a dream to be here with you,’ he added. ‘I’m going to take this all in and I’m never going to forget this evening.
’Tom continued: ‘Thank you for being here. We’re here for you. I make these movies for all of you.
’Top Gun: Maverick follows on from the first film, released in 1986. It catches up with Pete as he’s training graduates – but he’ll have to confront the ghosts of his past and his fears for one particularly terrifying mission. Cannes Film Festival, of course, kicked off with its opening ceremony, with stars including Lashana Lynch, Julianne Moore, and Eva Longoria posing on the red carpet.
