Tim Burton to make live-action Wednesday Addams series for Netflix

Let’s face it: television’s digital menu is overstuffed. Even with the luxuries of delayed viewing, anytime-streaming and on-demand, it’s impossible to watch everything on so many platforms with too many shows.So it’s somewhat of a relief, then, that “Behind Her Eyes,” streaming on Netflix, follows the traditional six-episode British TV series model.

The Wrap reports, with Gordon-Levitt voicing Jiminy Cricket and Erivo playing the Blue Fairy.  The movie will be a hybrid of live-action and visual effects in the vein of the 2017 re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast, with Tom Hanks playing Geppetto and Luke Evans as the Coachman.

If Disney hires Robert Zemeckis to direct a live-action “Pinocchio” remake, you better believe Tom Hanks is on board to star, right? And that’s exactly what’s happening. Brent Lang Executive Editor of Film and MediaJospeh Gordon-Levitt will provide the voice of Jiminy Cricket, while Cynthia Erivo will play the Blue Fairy in Disney’s live-action retelling of “Pinocchio.” That means that Gordon-Levitt will give his pipes a workout, singing “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which became an anthem of sorts for the Disney brand.They join a cast that includes Tom Hanks as Geppetto and Luke Evans as The Coachman.

Jermaine Fowler has already begun making a name for himself in films and TV series. He was the star of the CBS sitcom, “Superior Donuts” and has supporting roles in films such as “Sorry to Bother You” and the recent “Judas and the Black Messiah.” But perhaps the biggest role of Fowler’s career is coming up in the Amazon sequel, “Coming 2 America,” where he plays the long-lost son of Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem.

Well, Netflix made it official today and shared all the details about Burton’s first foray into streaming series.
