A video showing the chemical reaction between Irn-Bru and two boiled eggs has gone viral on social media.
TikTok user thekitchentiktok shared the clip showing what happens when two peeled boiled eggs are left in a cup of Irn-Bru in the fridge overnight.
The bizarre experiment, which has been viewed more than 57,000 times, shows the eggs turning luminous orange after being steeped in Scotland's favourite drink.
In the video, the shells are taken off of the two eggs before being placed in a cup and submerged in the fizzy orange liquid.
"Is that a Scotch egg," a man behind the camera can be heard joking, before thekitchentiktok laughs and states: "I like that one, he'll be here all day, lads."
After submerging the eggs, he continues: "Do you reckon that will work? Well I've got the answer for you." The TikTok user then retrieves a second cup showing the results after carrying out the experiment the previous night.
Incredibly, the formerly white boiled eggs are bright orange, while the liquid appears completely clear. The results indicate that the colour of the Irn-Bru was absorbed by the eggs.
"That is crazy," the man filming the video can be heard saying. After showing off the bright orange eggs, thekitchentiktok continues: "I reckon it's only penetrated the outside... but the yolk is still the yolk."
He then uses a blade to slice one of the eggs in half to reveal that the inside of the egg appears normal, confirming his suspicions. The TikTok user ends the video by stating: "Irn-Bru flavoured boiled egg."
Taking to the comments, one surprised TikTok user wrote: "No way. Need to try this."
"I would’ve liked to know if it tasted like Irn-Bru on the outside," shared a second, while a third commented: "Dunno how I feel but gonna
