A violent man with more than 60 previous convictions for 133 offences to his name stabbed his housemate in the neck and kicked his head ‘like a football’.
Colin Andrews was wielding an eight-inch knife when he ‘kicked open the door’ to his housemate's room in the shared home in Buckhurst Road, Levenshulme, Manchester Crown Square heard.
He launched a 'severe' attack, which his victim miraculously escaped with minor injuries that only required glue and stitches to treat. Recorder Jon Close told Andrews it was ‘difficult to understate how dangerous your actions were’, however, as he jailed him yesterday (September 7).

Prosecutor Niamh McGinty told the court Andrews launched the attack at 6pm on April 4, 2021.
“The victim armed himself with a wrench and he was stabbed above the right eye [by Andrews],” she added. “A witness says she genuinely believed Andrews was going to kill him.
“Andrews started kicking the victim on the floor. Witnesses said he kicked him like he was a football. Both were said to be under the influence of drink or drugs.”
Initially, following his arrest, Andrews told police that it was his housemate who instigated the violence, but later pleaded guilty to three charges of grievous bodily harm, possession of a bladed article, and breaching a criminal behaviour order.
The final charge was put to Andrews — who the court heard has eight previous violent convictions, and two with weapons — after he shouted through his victim's door several days after the attack that was going to attack him again with a hatchet. He was on police bail at the time.
