This Morning hosts speechless as Blue Peter time capsule is opened and all contents ruined

This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were nearly rendered speechless today, when an old Blue Peter time capsule was opened on the show - and all the contents were ruined. Holly, 41, and Phil, 60, were joined by former Blue Peter host Sarah Greene to open the time capsule, which was buried in 1981, the same year that Holly was born.

As they opened the time capsule, Holly joked: "And a spider comes out of there and...oh look", before Phil dissolved into giggles as the capsule was opened and the contents were unidentifiable. Sarah then laughed raucously and tried to cover the contents with her hands as she said: "I don't think you need to see." perhaps we should have rushed things up a little more..." Holly then said: "Did one of the Blue Peter dogs put something inside this?" Sarah replied: "Well, I'm not getting close enough to smell that but..." Holly said: "Do you know what? I reckon it's been wrapped in plastic and I reckon under there, there is something salvageable, so we'll have a little rummage". Sarah remained resolute as she said: "We're gonna find out properly a little bit later on aren't we?" The opening of the time capsule prompted a hilarious reaction on Twitter, with one person writing: "Well that was a waste of time! #ThisMorning " Another person tweeted: "Oh I’m gutted the time capsules not survived @thismorning @RealSarahGreene #ThisMorning ".
