Thieves have released two sheepdogs in Dundee after stealing a farmer’s vehicle.
The Border Collies were abandoned in Fintry on Sunday afternoon following the weekend incident.
It is understood thieves made off with a farmer's pick-up from Coupar Angus without knowing the dogs were in the back.
When they discovered the animals, they released them before making off with the vehicle.
A police spokesman confirmed the vehicle was an Isuzu D-Max pick-up with Ifor Williams canopy.
Its registration is ST15WRT and it was stolen from a farm near Coupar Angus sometime between 9am – 4pm on Sunday 22nd May.
The spokesman added: “Inside the car were the owner’s two border collie dogs.
“These dogs were later found abandoned in the Fintry area of Dundee. Fortunately they were not harmed.
“If you have any information that could assist our enquiries, particularly if you saw the car or around Dundee, please call 101 or speak to any police officer.
“Also, information can be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 2932 of 22nd May.”
