The Traitors became one of the most popular new reality TV shows of the last year, and to the delight of fans the US version will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer tomorrow.
Hosted by Scots star Alan Cumming, a slew of celebrities and ordinary citizens will battle it out in Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands in a bid to win a cash prize. The award-winning screen and stage star is best known for his roles in X-Men, the Spy Kids trilogy, and for roles in countless stage productions in London’s West End and Broadway.
The UK series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, became an overnight sensation, with Scot Meryl Williams taking home the jackpot alongside Aaron Evans and Hannah Byczkowski. The Traitors proved a huge hit for the broadcaster last year and has been streamed more than 28m times on BBC iPlayer.
Just like the UK series of the same name, the cast will take part in a series of challenges allowing them to reach a prize pot worth up to $250,000 (£205,000), as well as trying to determine who is or is not a Faithful contestant.
At the end of the show, the Faithful will share the prize fund if they banish all the Traitors – but if a Traitor is left standing, they take all the money.
The cast features a host of stars including Below Deck icon Kate Chastain, Real Housewives’ Brandi Glanville, Survivor stars Cirie Fields and Stephenie LaGrossa, and Big Brother’s Cody Calafiore and Rachel Reilly. Ordinary people from across the United States will also be thrown into the mix.
Announcing the show’s release, BBC’s Director of iPlayer and Channels, Dan McGolpin, said: “Following the huge success of The Traitors, we’re delighted to give BBC viewers the chance to watch the brand-new US series within hours of its release in
