The National Fish and Chip Awards has announced the top 40 entries for the Fish and Chip Takeaway of the Year category – with several top Scottish chippies making the list.
The category, which looks to celebrate the Fish and Chip Takeaway of the Year, saw chippies up and down the UK subjected to a rigorous judging process, with 40 eateries being named in the finalist shortlist
Each location was judged on criteria including customer service, and environmental and sustainably good practices.
Three Fish and Chip shops from across Scotland - in Aberdeenshire, Largs and Dumfries - were named in the top 40 and are now set to represent us in the final at the inaugural awards at the Park Plaza Hotel in London on February 28, 2023.
Commenting on the top 40 shortlist, President at The National Federation of Fish Friers, Andrew Crook, said: “Being able to announce the top 40 finalists for this category is an absolute pleasure. It is no secret that the industry are facing some challenges.
“That said, this industry is built upon British stoicism. And with spirit and determination we are committed to supporting our members and seeing through tough times. We cannot wait to celebrate at the awards ceremony in February 2023.”
