Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming animated series on Netflix.
The Netflix show will premiere on Friday, February 18, 2022.
The video game was released in 2017 and took inspiration from 1930s cartoons by the likes of Fleischer Brothers and Walt Disney.
The game has won awards at the BAFTAs, SXSW Gaming Awards and several other competitions.
The series will follow Cuphead and his brother Mugman - whose heads, as the title suggests, are shaped like cups - as they go on a carnival-themed adventure through the Inkwell Isles.
The journey starts promisingly but it leads them to someone they never wish to see - The Devil himself.
Netflix have released a trailer for the upcoming animated series and it intertwines modern animated comedy and the style of early cartoons that inspired its look quite well.
Featuring surreal characters and slapstick jokes, the visuals and audio are reminiscent of the 1930s era.
Cuphead and his brother Mugman open the trailer by painting a fence before Cuphead decides they need to have some 'fun and adventure'. The pair are then seen avoiding punches from boxing frogs and encountering the villains: King Dice and the Devil.
