New research has revealed the most dog-friendly cities and towns in the UK and named three locations in Scotland.
With more than a third of households in the UK owning a dog according to recent data, online dog and cat store Lord & Labradors aimed to find out which of the UK's urban locations were the most dog-friendly. According to the research, London topped the list with a rating of 99 percent.
Glasgow is the only Scottish location to appear in the top 10, coming in at number three. Praising its "parks and green spaces to explore", as well as its "many dog walkers and sitters", Lord & Labradors awarded it a rating of 86 per cent.
Completing the top five are York in second place with a rating of 87 per cent, and Manchester and Cambridge in fourth and fifth place, with ratings of 85 per cent and 83 per cent respectively.
Edinburgh and Aberdeen are the only other Scottish cities to appear in the top 20. The former was awarded a score of 62 per cent, while the latter received 59 per cent.
Out of 48 cities and towns included in the research, Derry placed last with a score of just 12 per cent. Dundee was the lowest placing Scottish location on the list, coming in at number 40 with a score of 27 per cent.
For the study, Lord & Labradors compared a number ‘dog-friendly’ factors across UK towns and cities and combined the data to give each one an overall score. The factors included:
