New research has revealed the happiest and least happy places to live in Scotland.
Gold payment platform Glint looked into the best and worst places in the UK to purchase a house, and life satisfaction was one of its key metrics.
The organisation used life satisfaction data from the UK Office of National Statistics to measure happiness. It separated its results between Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
It found that Orkney topped Scotland for happiness, with a life satisfaction score of 8.2 out of 10. Following in second and third place were Argyll and Bute and the Highlands, both with scores of 7.7 out of 10.

On the other end, Glint found that West Lothian, North Ayrshire, and Renfrewshire were the least happy places to live in Scotland. All three had life satisfaction score of 7.1 out of 10.
Looking at the overall best places in Scotland to buy a house, Glint used other metrics such as average property price per square foot, average salary, and crime rate. Falkirk and West Dunbartonshire came out on top, with 'house buying scores' of 71 out of 100.
Meanwhile, the research revealed that the City of Edinburgh is the worst place in Scotland to buy a house, with a score of 31 out of 100. East Lothian and East Dunbartonshire followed, both with scores of 34 out of 100.
