'Christmas chocolate' was spotted in the aisles of Tesco this week sparking debate online on whether the first week of August was just too early to spot festive products for sale.
One confused shopper was in her local branch on Thursday when she spotted stacks of tubs of Celebrations and Miniature Heroes.
The shopper said: "What’s the first sign of Christmas in the shops? Sweet tubs! Thought that the tubs of sweets were never out so early. Usually after Halloween, but not at the beginning of August!"
Celebrations and Miniature Heroes are typically sold at Christmas time but displays seen this week across Tesco stores left many other people confused, Hampshire Live reports.
One commenter said: "By Christmas, we're all sick of it! Never used to be like this when I was growing up!"
Another added: "I refuse to go into any shop that has Christmas things before November!"
Others said: "Oh ffs! Eff it off until December" and "No way!!!! FFS."
But some defended Tesco's decision - suggesting it would make life easier for those trying to deal with the cost of living squeeze.
One said: "People need to spread the cost of Christmas. This year especially. Every little helps!"

Spoiler alert: This article discusses the Season 2 finale of “Only Murders in the Building” — “I Know Who Did It.”The goal was always to hand back the investigation of Bunny Folger’s murder to the Arconia trio of Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez), according to “Only Murders in the Building” showrunner John Hoffman. After the disorientation of the season, which saw them all publicly implicated in the former board president’s killing, the executive producer and co-creator’s aim was to restore agency to the spun-around group.“’Go get ‘em once you know how to do it,’ — the notion is to hand it to them in a way that they would present their case enough to unravel and ensnare the actual killer in their own fashion,” Hoffman told TheWrap in a postmortem interview about the Hulu show.

Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorApproximately 36 hours before its scheduled release at midnight ET on Thursday, Beyonce’s full album has apparently leaked.Social media was filled with comments on the leak and Variety was able to find high-quality flac files that certainly sound like the album within a matter of minutes. Some posts showed CD copies of the album for sale, apparently in Europe.Reps for Beyonce and the album’s distributor, Columbia Records, did not immediately respond to Variety’s requests for comment. The leak came as a shock, as Beyonce’s operation is famously among the most secure in the business, renowned for the surprise drop of her 2013 self-titled album — which required countless non-disclosure agreements — and an overall air of secrecy.
