Funding given directly to schools from the Scottish Government has helped some pupils in Falkirk "achieve the unachievable".

A terminally ill Scots OAP was left without a washing machine and tumble dryer after signing up to a Scottish Government -funded scheme.
Mum-of-two Margaret Phillips, 72, from Edinburgh signed up for the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme in early September, to have a new heating system installed.
However the work from the contractor and managing agent Warmworks left without her washer and tumble dryer, after the machines were disconnected during the installation, reports Edinburgh Live.
Margaret said there was no space to reconnect them after the works, and she was unable to clean any clothes or bedding as she couldn't afford the reinstallation of the machines, which is estimated to cost around £2,500.
A Scottish Government spokesperson said they would investigate the matter, and acknowledged the "distress" caused to Margaret.
Warmworks has confirmed the new heating system will be installed free of charge but the scheme does not cover the cost of moving other kitchen appliances.
Margaret, who lost her husband to Covid and has a life-limiting health condition, said: “At first the scheme felt like a lifeline for me to help me have a better heating system in time for winter. In reality Warmworks have just replaced my problem with new ones."
The Burdiehouse pensioner has two sons, Scott and Robbie, and is currently receiving chemotherapy. She has to attend haemodialysis multiple times a week.
It was because of these health issues she was eligible for the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme which is funded by the Scottish Government and aims to reduce energy bills for the vulnerable by installing insulation and more efficient heating systems.
