‘Ted’ TV series in the works from Seth MacFarlane

Apple Studios has secured the rights to Donald Spivey’s non-fiction book, If You Were Only White: The Life of Leroy ‘Satchel’ Paige, for drama development with an eye toward a series order. The high-profile Negro League Baseball project comes from Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Mandelay’s Peter Guber, and Oscar nominee Ron Shelton, who is behind such sports film classics as Bull Durham and White Men Can’t Jump.

A live-action “Ted” prequel series from Seth MacFarlane is coming to Peacock, with the “Family Guy” creator in talks to reprise his role as the voice of the foul-mouthed teddy bear.The live-action series, based on Seth MacFarlane’s feature films released by Universal Pictures with MRC Film, will be executive produced by MacFarlane and Erica Huggins for Fuzzy Door. MacFarlane is under an overall deal with Universal.

Everybody’s favorite foul-mouthed teddy bear, Ted, is returning, years after the last film in the franchise. But this time, “Ted” isn’t being crafted as a sequel film.
