‘Take Me Out’ Returning to Broadway in October With Jesse Williams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson

The singer and songwriting star will appear in conversation with TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey and introduce her short film, “All Too Well,” at the annual celebration of movies. “In Conversation With… Taylor Swift” will take place on Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at TIFF Bell Lightbox, so start lining up now (only kind of joking). The event will mark the first-ever screening of “All Too Well” on 35mm. “We love the intersection of film and other art forms, and Taylor Swift is a brilliant visual thinker,” said Bailey. “We’re excited to hear Taylor’s version of how absorbing influences from cinema led to her creating ‘All Too Well: The Short Film.'”

The set was hot, but [Jesse] wasn’t waiting in his trailer — he came straight in and he goes, ‘I’ve got a joke to pitch,'” Down told Variety on the red carpet at Harmony Gold. “He just loves improvisation and he was such a generous actor.” Based on the children’s book series by Annie Barrows, the upcoming film trilogy follows the adventures of unlikely best friends Ivy (Keslee Blalock) and Bean (Madison Skye Validum), from hunting down ghosts to enrolling in dance lessons. Ferguson plays ballet teacher Monsieur Joy in the third installment, “Ivy and Bean: Doomed to Dance.”

Jesse Tyler Ferguson stepped in to serve as the officiant at Sarah Hyland's wedding after their Modern Family co-star Ty Burrell dropped out due to a family emergency. The actor served as the officiant when his former co-star married radio personality Wells Adams at a winery near Santa Barbara in California earlier this month. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ferguson revealed that Burrell, who played Hyland's onscreen father in Modern Family, was originally supposed to marry the bride and groom but he had to bow out of the role 12 days before the ceremony.

Cannon will direct the film with Reid co-writing the script. The film centers around four childhood pals who get a drunken voicemail from their former best friend on the eve of her wedding day — confessing that she thinks she’s making a mistake — and set out to stop her wedding and rekindle the bond they once shared.  Ashley Rodger will co-write the film and produce the picture alongside Reid, Sister’s Co-Founder and Global CEO Stacey Snider, Ilda Diffley, Joanna Korshak, Brad Mendlsohn, Cannon and Laverne McKinnon. Shooting will start in the second quarter of 2023.

Secret Headquarters, starring Owen Wilson, has set a record on Paramount+ as the most-watched original movie in the first seven days since its release on the streaming platform.

It follows a young U.S. diplomat who cracked the case by cultivating an improbable source — risking everything to gather the key evidence. The film is based on an article by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Raymond Bonner. “Killers & Diplomats” is from writers Michael Nourse and John Tyler McClain, whose screenplay was featured on the 2021 Annual Black List. It was developed by producers Jordan Foley and Jonathan Rosenthal of Mill House Motion Pictures. Projected Picture Works partners John Ira Palmer and John Wildermuth are producing with Penn, Foley and Rosenthal. Ray Bonner will executive produce with Yeardley Smith and Ben Cornwell of Paperclip Ltd.

"Take Me Out" is coming back to Broadway with "Modern Family" actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and former "Grey's Anatomy" star Jesse Williams both reprising their roles. The Tony award-winning play written by Richard Greenberg, directed by Scott Ellis and produced by Barry and Fran Weissler will be playing for 14 weeks at the Schoenfeld Theatre, beginning on October 27.  The play ran for a limited run this past spring and received four Tony nominations.The play is about Darren Lemming, a fictional baseball professional baseball player played by Williams who comes out as gay.

Tony winner Jesse Tyler Ferguson and nominee Jesse Williams are suiting up again as stars of the baseball-themed Take Me Out, which is set to return to Broadway in the fall. The hit revival will re-take the field October 27 at the Schoenfeld Theatre for 14 weeks, it was revealed today.
