Watch Waxahatchee and Snail Mail cover The Killers’ ‘When You Were Young’

Snail Mail and Waxahatchee covered The Killers‘ ‘When You Were Young’ during the final night of the former’s ‘Valentine Fest’.The duo – whose real names are Lindsey Jordan and Katie Crutchfield, respectively – teamed up at the Ottobar for the cover of the 2006 hit single in Baltimore last night (February 14) for the fifth night of the concert series.It comes after Jordan linked up with Mac DeMarco to cover Talking Heads’ 1983 classic ‘This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)’ the previous night (February 13).Earlier in the week, Jordan also teamed up with Soccer Mommy for Avril Lavigne‘s 2002 hit ‘I’m With You’.‘Valentine Fest’ was launched in support of Jordan’s second album as Snail Mail, the titular ‘Valentine’, which arrived last November via Matador. Singles included the title track, ‘Ben Franklin’ and ‘Madonna’, with the album itself earning a five-star review from NME’s El Hunt.

Waxahatchee announces new album ‘Tigers Blood’ and shares single ‘Right Back To It’

Waxahatchee has announced her latest LP ‘Tigers Blood’ and has shared the lead single ‘Right Back To It’.‘Tigers Blood’ will mark the sixth album released by the singer – real name Katie Crutchfield – and follows her 2020 LP ‘St. Cloud’. It also marks her first release under her new label home, ANTI-.A press release said that in this LP Crutchfield “emerges as a powerhouse – an ethnologist of the self – forever dedicated to revisiting her wins and losses” and sees her “arriving at revelations” and not holding them back.The majority of the songs were written during what the singer called a “hot hand spell,” while on tour near the end of 2022.

Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby have dropped covers of two songs by Broadcast and Guided by Voices on Bandcamp. All funds from the downloads are going to the Vote No Kansas PAC, an organization raising awareness of the “Value Them Both” amendment which would allow the state legislature to ban abortion. An election on the amendment will take place on August 2 with Vote No Kansas working to educate local voters on what is at stake.
