“The Woman in the Window” is just one in the long line of films to suffer from studio interference in the editing room. A situation where a director’s vision is superseded by studio interests, and the resulting film suffers because of it.

Let’s take a trip back to December 2019, nearly a year-and-a-half ago. That’s when the world was shown the first full trailer for Joe Wright’s thriller, “The Woman in the Window.” At that time, the film was expected to arrive in early 2020 and would be distributed by Fox 2000 (which was soon to be shuttered by Disney after the Fox acquisition).
Where to begin with “The Woman in the Window?” Back in 2018, things seemed great, with Amy Adams signing on to star in a new mystery thriller from filmmaker Joe Wright, based on a best-selling novel. Film fans were buzzing with anticipation, hoping that maybe this could be a sort of “Gone Girl”-esque awards contending thriller.
You wouldn’t be wrong for thinking “The Woman in the Window” has already been released. The film was originally scheduled to be released in October 2019 but was delayed by Disney (who was set to release the film under its 20th Century Studios banner) until 2020.
A new poster for Joe Wright’s movie version of the book The Woman In The Window has been released online. Tracey Letts has adapted the film for the screen.
