A propulsive, albeit complicated, narrative plays out across Lee Jung-jae’s directorial debut “Hunt.” Cashing in on the capital that “Squid Game” and a recent Emmy win got him, Jung-jae marries the spy and action genres in a film that he co-writes, directs, and stars into middling results.

Though it was only released a little more than a year ago, it feels like a lifetime has passed since “The Hunt” hit theaters last March. Most of that feeling is due to the pandemic upending the entire world for more than a year.

In an unprecedented move, Universal Pictures will make a bunch of their theatrical titles available on-demand from this coming Friday, including the box-office smash that is The Invisible Man. Recent releases The Hunt and Emma will also be available to rent in the United States and other ‘offshore markets where the titles are in release,’ so reports Deadline. The recommended price point will be $19.99 for a 48-hour rental.

Much of public life in the United States essentially ground to a halt this week. In response, Universal ripped director Craig Zobel’s movie from its original Sept.

Scheduled for release back in September of 2019, The Hunt went on hiatus due to a number of tragic shootings Stateside. Although there are plenty of violent films, and numerous shootings throughout the year, The Hunt was unfairly targeted due to it focusing on a plot that sees wealthy liberals hunt the right-wing. However, after seeing The Hunt, it all seems rather daft; this is social satire, but with so much tongue in cheek and over the top gore, that surely nobody will be taking it seriously.

Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions has ruled the box office when it comes to the horror genre in recent years, so when “The Hunt” cancelled its planned September 2019 release, it was a major shock.

The Hunt was originally set to be released in cinemas back last year, then was pulled from cinemas over building controversy and various shootings in the U.S. Now it seems that it is getting a release date next month. Universal Pictures has just debuted a new trailer.
