As David Cronenberg fans wait to see if the director returns to Cannes with “The Shrouds” this May, his daughter Caitlin’s feature debut hits theaters next month. And “Humane” sounds like a story fit for a member of the Cronenberg family, an end-days tale about ecological collapse, euthanasia, and the lengths one will go to maintain normalcy.

Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg (“Crimes of The Future“) has fathered some talented children; his son Brandon Cronenberg already making a name for himself with blood-soaked mature projects like “Possessor” and “Infinity Pool.” Now, his artist daughter Caitlin Cronenberg is also getting into the moviemaking business with her feature film debut, “Humane.” The film was just acquired by IFC Films and Shudder from XYZ Films with a plan to hit the big screen before becoming an exclusive on the streaming service.

Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, or even Sergio Martino may pop into cinephile’s heads when thinking of Giallo’s greatest directors. But only one name is truly synonymous with the Italian sub-genre, and that’s Dario Argento.

The latest installment in the “V/H/S” horror anthology series premieres at Fantastic Fest tomorrow before it streams exclusively on Shudder next month. And to drum up hype for the “V/H/S/85,” here’s an all-new trailer for the movie, which features shorts from the likes of “The Night House” and “Hellraiser” director David Bruckner and Scott Derrickson, the director behind “The Black Phone” and the “Sinister” movies.

The Amusement Park is finally getting a release date.Shudder, AMC Networks’ horror-centric streaming service, has acquired the rights for the 1973 film which was considered lost until a print surfaced in 2018. It will be made available to watch this summer in the UK, Ireland, North America, Australia and New Zealand.The Amusement Park was commissioned by the Lutheran Society, which wanted Romero to make a movie about the poor treatment of the elderly in contemporary society.

Honestly, in a world filled with a million different streaming options, pound-for-pound, dollar-for-dollar, is there a better offering than Shudder, specifically if you’re a fan of genre filmmaking? Sure, you can weed through the heaps of uninteresting stuff on Netflix for $15 per month (or whatever the price is now, as it keeps increasing) or you can enjoy Shudder, which has some great horror, thriller, and auteur classics, as well as pretty awesome Originals, all for $6 per month.

Horror films have always been great carriers for social commentary. The tropes, the carnage, the acceptance that characters on screen are going to put themselves in risky situations—it all allows for the message to go down easy.
