Let’s put it out there quickly, “Sonic The Hedgehog” films—about the young anthropomorphic creatures that run at lightning speeds and become heroes of Earth—are no cinematic marvels or blockbuster essentials, and they’re arguably not super memorable either. But for what they are—light, charming escapes for kids that aren’t a chore to sit through for adults thanks to their breezy pace and charismatic actors — they’re fine little diversions (Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz being effective in their roles as quippy villains and heroes).

After three successful seasons, the supernatural drama series, “Evil” will return for its fourth and final installment this summer. Yesterday, Paramount+ revealed the official trailer and premiere date for the critically acclaimed original series.

Despite a near-fatal brush with death in the early new year of 2023, Jeremy Renner is back at it in the acting game, almost as if nothing ever happened. Miraculously healthy, healed, and back to work in early 2024, Renner is back for a third season of his Paramount+ series, “Mayor Of Kingstown,” about a power broker family whose main business is incarceration.

Having just completed a TV spin-off of his own movie, Netflix’s “The Gentlemen” series based on the 2019 film of the same name (read our review here), filmmaker Guy Ritchie is going back to a similar well. This time, it’s TV to TV: Paramount+, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & 101 Studios announced that Ritchie will direct and executive produce “The Donovans,” a new series that will be loosely based on Showtime’s popular “Ray Donovan” show starring Liev Schreiber, and Irish award-winning screenwriter, producer, and novelist Ronan Bennett will pen all ten episodes of this new series.

It’s fascinating to watch certain eras of TV and filmmaking arrive when those eras are essentially over. And by that, I mean you’ll remember during the pandemic, to keep investors happy and to show them, “Don’t worry, no theaters won’t stop us from releasing content,” every studio under the sun greenlit a ton of spin-offs of their biggest brands.

Everyone remember filmmaker Jonathan Glazer’s 2000 British cult crime drama and debut feature, “Sexy Beast” with Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone? Of course you do, it’s a stone cold classic even if it is relatively straightforward compared to Glazer’s latter day more enigmatic masterpieces like “Under the Skin” (2013), and “The Zone of Interest” (the latter of which we named the Best Film of 2023).

Man, it’s wild that “The Curse,” the new Showtime series from Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder, and Benny Safdie, got made. And or, maybe another way to say it is, if/when you package three immense talents and names like the aforementioned actor, writer/director, comedian, and filmmaker, you can really go for broke and push the envelope on the medium and what the audience can withstand and bear (more of this, please!) Paramount has ransacked its back catalog to bring a new adaptation of its 1987 erotic thriller “Fatal Attraction“ to streaming. Since “Fatal Attraction” was released, it has become a signature movie in the erotic thriller genre and has faced detractors who point to the movie as a harrowing depiction of anti-feminism.

We have good news and bad news for “Star Trek” fans. The good news is that there’s a new “Star Trek” film in development, with an Oscar-winning actor in the lead role.

“Fatal Attraction,” Paramount+‘s latest series, is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name directed by Adrian Lyne, which in turn was based on James Dearden‘s 1980 short film titled “Diversion.” The Michael Douglas and Glenn Close venture was highly successful.
