The Hollywood Reporter states that DuVernay will take her involvement with the rapper, who was shot and killed in 2019, by working on a documentary alongside his family.

Nispey Hussle won a posthumous award at the 62nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. “Racks in the Middle” took home best rap performance to rousing applause at the pre-telecast ceremony. Sharing in the award were Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy. It is the rapper’s first-ever Grammy Award.

The 2020 Grammy for Best Rap Performance has been posthumously awarded to Nipsey Hussle. Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy also won for the song “Racks in the Middle.” The other nominees in the category were J. Cole (“MIDDLE CHILD” and the Dreamville posse cut “Down Bad”), Offset and Cardi B (“Clout”), and DaBaby (“Suge”).

The late Nipsey Hussle is still being honored after his death.

Rapper YG was arrested Friday morning on robbery charges at his home in Southern California, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.

This year's Grammys take place on Sunday, January 26, and will feature a tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle. The rapper was shot and killed last year and is posthumously nominated for a number of Grammys including Best Rap Song for “Racks In The Middle” and Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Higher.”

Nearly two years after the release of Nipsey Hussle's debut album Victory Lap, the album has officially been certified platinum by the RIAA, according to RapRadar. After his tragic passing in March of last year, sales and streams spiked amid the outpouring of support from fans both old and new. The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 back in February 2018 when it was released, and peaked at #2 a week after his death.
