Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has recorded a score for an Audible version of 1984 – check out behind-the-scenes footage of the Abbey Road sessions below. The recording was done for a new audio thriller based on George Orwell’s dystopian classic, which is shared today (April 4) on Audible – exactly 40 years after the date of the protagonist’s first diary entry. The audio drama features an all-star cast, including Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield, who leads the adaptation as main character Winston alongside Grammy and Oscar-nominated actor Cynthia Erivo as Julia. Andrew Scott plays the alluring, mysterious and dangerous O’Brien, while Tom Hardy voices the infamous Big Brother.Alongside the narrations, helping transport listeners into the dystopian world is Muse songwriter, guitarist and frontman Matt Bellamy, who has joined forces with award-winning composer Ilan Eshkeri to create an original score. The soundtrack was performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra at Abbey Road studios, and you can find a new behind-the-scenes video of Bellamy and Eshkeri recording at the iconic London space below.“The music we created is more than a soundtrack; it’s a haunting echo of a future that Orwell warned us about and a reflection of our current societal trajectories,” Bellamy and Eshkeri said in a joint statement.

The Simpsons characters covering Muse and Limp Bizkit have gone viral online. Check them out below.Over the past few months, the debate about the use of AI in music has proved to be a divisive one, with some artists openly rejecting the concept of using platforms like ChatGPT to write songs, while others – including Paul McCartney – have embraced the technology with open arms. Now, thanks to TikTok user @mememusic117, AI has been used for a more unorthodox purpose – delivering some essential rock tracks in the style of characters from The Simpsons. The clips show the characters coming together to perform songs such as Muse’s ‘Starlight’ and Limp Bizkit’s ‘Break Stuff’ for some Springfield locals, as accompanied by two Transformer backing dancers. For both clips, Homer takes on the role of vocalist, while Marge plays the electric guitar and Bart sits behind the drum kit.Strangely enough, Lisa – the only family member recognised for her musical abilities in the show – isn’t featured in the Muse clip, nor is Maggie.

Muse have shared their new single ‘Kill Or Be Killed’ from their forthcoming ninth album ‘Will Of The People’ – listen to the track below. The song, which has been previewed at numerous festivals over the summer, is the fourth to be lifted from the trio’s new LP after the title track, ‘Compliance’ and ‘Won’t Stand Down’.Frontman Matt Bellamy said: “’Kill Or Be Killed’ is Muse at their heaviest! We wanted to update our hard rock sound on this album and with ‘Kill Or Be Killed’ we found a modern metal sound featuring double bass drum action and even a death growl.“Lyrically the song takes influence from my favourite Paul McCartney song ‘Live And Let Die’, a dark take on how life’s adversity can sometimes bring out the worst human instincts to survival at any costs.”‘Will Of The People’ is due out August 26 via Warner Records and can be pre-ordered here.Meanwhile, Muse’s Matt Bellamy recently told NME that he thinks society wants “a new type of revolution”.Following the coronavirus pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the current cost of living crisis, the frontman said he believes change is coming.“I think everyone knows we want a revolution, but we definitely don’t want a bunch of authoritarian lunatics from the right. That’s the last thing we want,” he told NME.“And also we don’t want a total communist situation on the hard left either.

Muse are set to replace Foo Fighters at this year’s Aftershock Festival. The change to the line-up follows on from news that Foo Fighters cancelled all their live commitments following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.“It is with great sadness that Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the staggering loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins,” the band said back in March.Aftershock will take place at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California from October 6-9.Muse frontman Matt Bellamy said in a statement: “It’s been too long and we can’t wait to come back to Northern California and headline Aftershock on Sunday, October 9th in Sacramento.”Joining Muse are My Chemical Romance, Slipknot, KISS, Bring Me The Horizon, Papa Roach, Judas Priest, Lamb Of God, Evanescence, A Day To Remember and Stone Temple Pilots. In other Muse news, Bellamy said in a new interview that the band’s forthcoming new album ‘Will Of The People’ is going to be “a greatest hits album – of new songs”.The Teignmouth trio, who returned to action in January with the track ‘Won’t Stand Down’, will release their ninth studio LP on August 26 via Warner Records.Speaking to The Big Issue, Bellamy explained: “We were reaching that point where there was talk about maybe doing a greatest hits album, and we weren’t really in favour of doing that. So it’s almost like we’ve made a record that is a greatest hits album – of new songs.“That means this album might have a metal track on it – and it’s like, the best metal track we’ve ever done.

Matt Bellamy says Muse’s ‘Will Of The People’ is “a greatest hits album – of new songs”

Muse‘s forthcoming new album ‘Will Of The People’ is “a greatest hits album – of new songs”.The Teignmouth trio, who returned to action in January with the track ‘Won’t Stand Down’, will release their ninth studio LP on August 26 via Warner Records.Speaking to The Big Issue, Muse frontman Bellamy explained how ‘Will Of The People’ was written partly in response to their record label, who wanted the band to release a ‘best of’ compilation.“We were reaching that point where there was talk about maybe doing a greatest hits album, and we weren’t really in favour of doing that,” Bellamy said. “So it’s almost like we’ve made a record that is a greatest hits album – of new songs.“That means this album might have a metal track on it – and it’s like, the best metal track we’ve ever done.
