If you’re not aware, Amazon is looking to acquire MGM Studios for a massive $8.45 billion and means that future films could be heading directly to their streaming service Prime Video. This will likely lead to more commercially viable projects that will be cooked up at the studio, and a new MGM pic sounds like it meets that criteria.

Costume designer Trish Summerville has collaborated with David Fincher on films such as “Gone Girl” and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and with other filmmakers on large fantasy films including “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “The Dark Tower.” None of that prepared her for tackling Fincher’s passion project, however. “Mank” not only found her designing clothing from Hollywood’s golden era, but translating those costumes specifically for a black and white digital canvas.

David Fincher made his return to feature filmmaking after a six-year absence with “Mank,” and it doesn’t look like he’s letting his momentum stop. The filmmaker revealed the projects he’s currently working on, including a TV series where he talks with special guests about the movies they love.

The last guild awards announcement for 2021 was reserved for the American Society of Cinematographers which, in truth, isn’t a guild, but represents the most important creative aspect of a movie, the image itself. More than any other guild honor, the Oscar for Best Cinematography rarely deviates from the Feature Film nominees from the ASC Awards.

When you make a film like “Citizen Kane” as your first feature as a filmmaker, people are going to throw tons of acclaim your way. And that’s exactly what happened with Orson Welles after the release of his masterpiece, which many still consider one of the greatest films of all time.

David Fincher is infamous for being a very meticulous, detail-oriented filmmaker. Over the years, actors and crew members have spoken out about how difficult it is to work with the director because of his propensity for forcing people to do dozens of takes for a scene.

David Fincher‘s “Mank,” is a black and white prestige drama starring Gary Oldman about the writing and making of legendary filmmaker Orson Welles‘ “Citizen Kane” — often considered one of the greatest movies of all time and it looks unlike anything the filmmaker has made before, much more in a “serious-drama” rather than than the genre films he usually makes.

If you weren’t already psyched for David Fincher’s upcoming film, “Mank,” then Netflix probably is about to cement your excitement by finally announcing a release date for the long-awaited, black and white period drama. According to Collider, after months of speculation, Netflix is ready to release “Mank” on December 4.

Without a doubt, in an industry overrun with true-crime series and docs, “Mindhunter” is easily one of the best of the bunch. Netflix’s drama series about the early origins of the FBI’s investigations into serial killers and their behavior has only two seasons under its belt but the show (produced and partially directed by David Fincher) is already a must-see for anyone interested in crime stories and/or just great filmmaking.

David Fincher is a known perfectionist, usually shooting many, many, many takes of a single scene before he’s satisfied. Turns out, the 2 times Oscar-nominated director hasn’t changed one bit.
