To say that this year has been rough for Marvel Studios is a bit of an understatement. The studio that was once thought to be invincible has shown that it has weaknesses and audiences are starting to take note.

“Loki” star Tom Hiddleston doesn’t know if the hit Disney+ series will return for a third season — but says he’s OK if it never returns.“I truly don’t know,” Hiddleston, 43, told Variety at the April 5 launch of Hulu on Disney+.“There have been other times when I thought it was the end and I’ve been mistaken, but if this is the end, I’m so proud of where we ended up.”“Loki,” in which Hiddleston plays the villainous God of Mischief — who first appeared in the 2011 movie “Thor” — premiered in June 2021 and quickly became a fan favorite. It was immediately renewed, with Season 2 dropping last October.“I’m really proud of [Season 2],” Hiddleston said.

The Mandalorian has been named as the most streamed original television series in 2023.The third season of the Star Wars spinoff series wound up on Disney+ in April, with a finale that left some fans divided over its surprisingly optimistic conclusion.In a new list compiled by the data analysts Whip Media (via Yahoo News), which established the dominance of shows based on the share of viewers in the US from January to November, there are three more Disney+ shows in the top ten.Marvel series Loki comes in at Number Two, while Secret Invasion and Ahsoka land the seventh and ninth spots respectively.Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso takes the third spot, while the highest Netflix placing is You in fourth place, followed by Black Mirror at Number Six.Netflix do, however, take the largest share of the Top 30 in total, with a total of 11 contributions.In December, Netflix announced that they would be publishing a report twice a year to show what subscribers were watching over a six month period.The first report, which covered the months from January to June 2023, revealed that according to their data, The Night Agent was the most viewed product, racking up over 812 million hours globally.Created by Shawn Ryan, The Night Agent follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) who is thrown into a desperate hunt for a traitor at the highest levels of the US government.

As you likely know by now, season two of “Loki” ended last week, and the ramifications of the series have echoed on. And Tom Hiddleston finally did the press rounds now that the strikes are over, talking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast and Entertainment Weekly, among others.

We’re already into Phase 5 and Marvel’s The Multiverse Saga, which began with “Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quanumania” and goes all the way to 2027 with “Avengers: Secret Wars.” This means that eventually, we’ll likely end up seeing “Avengers: Kang Dynasty” (2026) and ‘Secret Wars’ become massive ‘Endgame‘-level events that allow dozens and dozens of heroes to face off against the main antagonist Jonathan Majors’ Kang The Conqueror.

Marvel TV series Loki this week, unveiling his new character: 19th century inventor Victor Timely. With the WGA-Strike officially over, there seems to be the first real lull due to the impact of it. October still has plenty of series worth exploring, especially notable titles such as the latest from Mike Flannigan and the second season of the popular “Our Flag Means Death,” but the lineup isn’t quite as bulked up as some of the more recent months.

Where did franchise television go (almost immediately) wrong? Marvel television was supposed to enrich character stopgaps between blockbuster movies—a place to spend more quality time with your favorite supporting character who doesn’t get enough airtime. Disney+’s MCU TV strategy was supposed to be the salve.

However, what they didn’t expect was “Loki” to easily become the most-watched Marvel series on the streaming service.

Director Kate Herron and head writer Michael Waldron pulled off something quite remarkable with Marvel Studios‘ “Loki.” The Disney+ series not only set the popular character on a new and compelling narrative but did so with arguably the most gorgeous and creative aesthetic in the MCU to date (although the work on display in Chloe Zhao’s “Eternals” is right there with it).
