Outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you could argue that the most successful superhero franchise of the past decade is the Arrowverse (or CWverse, whatever they’re calling it nowadays). Starting with “Arrow” a number of years ago, the franchise has spunoff into a number of other series, and the universe has had multiple “Avengers”-esque crossovers.
Even if the TV shows at the network aren’t to your liking, there’s no one out there that could argue that CW doesn’t take chances. Before Marvel TV was making all those superhero TV series, CW had already seen “Arrow” become a hit and kickstart a highly successful universe.
I feel bad for anyone that enjoys CW’s “Batwoman” and doesn’t pay attention to Hollywood news. Why? Well, since the first season finale this spring, the show has lost its lead actress, Ruby Rose, is planning to get rid of the lead character Kate Kane as Batwoman, and is replacing her with a brand-new character played by a brand-new actress.
she announced her departure from the series in May.Prior to joining “Batwoman,” Leslie starred on the CBS series “God Friended Me,” which aired for two seasons. That show was also produced by Warner Bros.
Even if you don’t actively follow the current state of the CW Arrowverse, you’re probably aware of the recent news that actress Ruby Rose suddenly quit as the star of the network’s popular new series “Batwoman,” after only one season. This departure was shocking to the fans of the show that were anxiously awaiting Season 2 and the promise of a big crossover with the upcoming re-imagined ‘Superman’ series.
Odds are, if you haven’t watched any of the CW Arrowverse superhero series, you may not be aware of Hartley Sawyer’s acting career. But for so many people who enjoy “The Flash” and the various other CW superhero shows, Sawyer has been a regular part of the universe for years now.
With the rise of protests around the world, in the aftermath of the brutal killing of George Floyd by a police officer, it appears that Black actors are feeling more empowered to speak up about the racism and discrimination that is present in Hollywood. And though many are calling out the systemic racism that exists, some folks, such as “Riverdale” actress Vanessa Morgan, are taking aim at their own TV series and projects.
Apparently, it only took one season for Ruby Rose to figure out she’s not ready to become a full-time superhero in the CW Arrowverse, as the lead actress for the network’s most recent superhero launch, “Batwoman,” has hung up her cape and cowl for good. According to Deadline, Rose has informed CW and the crew behind the new hit series, “Batwoman,” that she doesn’t intend on returning for Season 2.
